Boråstapeter: Alvar Aalto, Nocturne in yellow and floral dream wallpapers
Swedish Boråstapeter continues to deliver both new wonderful wallpapers and old familiar patterns in new colors and new interpretations. Here are our favorites in four of the collections: Alvar Aalto's checkered M.I.T, floral Nightingale Garden, Nocturne in yellow, and lovely limestone-colored wallpapers.
Alvar Aalto M.I.T.
Alvar Aalto's design wallpaper M.I.T is part of the Scandinavian Designers III collection. Alvar Aalto worked as a guest professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the 1940s and designed the student house Baker House. The graphic pattern M.I.T originates from there. The M.I.T wallpaper is available in six different colors - ranging from light gray and beige to red, green, and black.
Famous Scandinavian Wallpaper Classics
The wallpaper collection Scandinavian Designers III is filled with beloved wallpaper classics designed by well-known Scandinavian designers such as Stig Lindberg, Arne Jacobsen, Viola Gråsten, and Gocken and Lisbet Jobs.
Danish designer Arne Jacobsen's graphic wallpaper Tassel has a strict pattern where Jacobsen combines his restrained design language with his love for plants. The wallpaper is available in three muted colors.
The sisters Gocken and Lisbet Jobs worked with fabrics and created delightful patterns that expressed joy in Sweden after the war. Gocken Jobs' design Ros och Lilja is a colorful Swedish fabric classic now available as wallpaper. It also comes with a light and dark base.
Swedish design icon and multifaceted artist Stig Lindberg's patterns can be found on textiles, porcelain, and in children's books. You have probably seen the blue cups with plum patterns, now as the wallpaper Prunus. The graphic pattern Fruktlåda (pictured above) was first shown at the famous NK department store in Stockholm in 1947, a detailed pattern with a retro feel. The wallpaper is available in three soft colors.
Old Wallpaper Favorites Make a Comeback
The wallpaper collection Vårt Arkiv gathers eleven timeless wallpapers from their large pattern archive. The wallpapers originate from different decades of the last century and breathe both fifties retro and seventies colors. The wallpapers are classics that fit in most homes.
The wallpaper Nocturne has been a favorite for many in recent years. Now it comes in a yellow color, which can certainly give the beloved yellow Hip Rose some competition. We like Nocturne a bit extra because the pattern matching is so beautifully done; notice how difficult it is to find where the pattern repeating starts and ends. A skillfully made wallpaper, simply put!
The wallpaper Schlager is a graphic retro wallpaper that breathes the 1950s. The wallpaper has curvy lines and colorful dots but still feels very calm thanks to the soft color palette. The wallpaper suits well with both dark and light colors and in all rooms. It naturally fits in retro-inspired homes but also in modern interiors.
The wallpaper Acanthus is large-flowered and has roots all the way back to the 1840s. The wallpaper has a lush, dense pattern now available in four soft pastel colors.
The wallpaper Alicia is a modern classic created as recently as 2015. It is named after Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. Alicia is a lovely large-flowered wallpaper available in four color options.
Rural and romantically floral wallpapers
The wallpaper collection Cottage Garden contains rural, floral, and romantic wallpapers inspired by the English countryside and all the lush gardens there. The wallpapers are understated and rustic.
The floral wallpaper Nightingale Garden has a dense pattern of flourishing flowers. The pattern was first created for fabric over 100 years ago. The wallpaper is romantic and comes in four different color options.
The floral wallpaper Helens Flower is romantic and airy. A soft and poetic wallpaper that works well both as a background wall and on all four walls. The wallpaper is available in four color options.
The wallpaper Marions Mural with flowers in watercolor colors painted by hand is romantic - you can almost feel how good the flowers smell! The wallpaper is available in three color options.
Florence Mural is a large floral wallpaper - both romantic and modern. The wallpaper has a pattern width of 3.6 meters and it cannot be repeated laterally.
Solid color and soft wallpapers
The fourth wallpaper collection is Chalk with plain, matte and powdery chalk wallpapers. The wallpapers are soft and wonderfully harmonious.
Shades of Chalk-the wallpapers are rustic and raw and feel as if they were hand painted with a broad brush. The wallpaper is cozy and timeless and is available in thirty different color options.
