Vocational college's style change
Among Aveo's interior design projects, there are many learning environments. Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa received a facelift.
Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa, Wolffskavägen unit, underwent a style change when the school’s auditorium and lobby were renovated. The client’s wish was to create a fresh, inviting, and modern learning environment that can also be adapted for various lectures and training sessions.
The interior design planning started around the already functional elements to make the change as cost-effective as possible. For example, the fabric on the benches in the auditorium was in such good condition that it was decided to keep it. The same with the acoustics, which already worked well. Around these elements, a colorful and inspiring whole was planned, where the texture of the materials could be seen. With the help of paint and textiles, the spaces received a nice rhythmic wholeness. Curtains with a glare-reducing effect on sunlight decorate the windows but do not cover the fantastic view.
The lobby serves both as a study room and as a reception and break space during various events. Almost the entire window wall on the right separates the lobby from a smaller study room. They wanted to limit visibility to this room using textile-based Gecko material, which is easy to place and change.
The wall color in the lobby got new curtains as companions, which complement the space and create a long-awaited softness. The new durable Bolon floor mat delineates the space at the high-quality tables made by a carpenter.
The end result was cost-effective spaces that underwent a significant style change with relatively small but carefully selected elements.
